2018 Mount TBR Reading Challenge

https://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2017/10/mount-tbr-2018-sign-up.html

One of my big focus points for 2018 is to get through my older books, books that have been on my shelves for a long time, etc so I feel I can better keep up with new releases with less guilt.  So, in addition to Beat the Backlist, I am doing this challenge to.  Yes they heavily overlap, but with 2 challenges I hope the motivation will be that much stronger.

So Mount TBR is about reading books I have owned prior to the Challenge year.  YAY!  Motivation to clean up my shalves so I can get new lovelies on them (or even just make enough room to fit all my books onto the shelves....

My goal: Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR

I think I can probably do more and although I hope to get through more but I have a bunch of books I want to read that I don't yet own so we shall see.  Can I make it to Olympus? (150+ bks) Challenge level subject to change.

As I finish a book, I will share the covers here to share what I've read.  I will try to update every 2-3 weeks I think.
See you in 2018 to begin!!

I found this fun readathon at one of the hosts sites.  Novel Thoughts and 3 others are hosting this fun event.  Click the link to learn more!I am going for some more simple, easy reads for this being I am SUPER busy with work (I will literally be working every day except Christmas from the 14th-28th).  I hope to get through all of these.  Technically I started Clockwork Angel but didn't get very far so I am using it.

2018's Beat the Backlish Challenge Goal & TBR

So I tried this challenge this past year, but it seemed to fall apart for me on a few levels.  Well it is back and simplified and I love it so I am returning to give it another go!

I am hoping to read at least 100 books published before 2018.  More is ideal and reasonably possible. I am going to try and update this at least monthly to share what I have read (see toward the bottom) and what I have lined up for a TBR (will be keeping it around 100 book options for at least the first 6 months).  Keep an eye on it as it will change as I read things!!

TEAM:

This is my TENTATIVE starting TBR for this challenge (subject to change based on my mood and also if I read any of these before the year is out-honestly I might just read something else from my goodreads to-read list.) in no particular order:

Coyer 2017/2018 Winter Switch

WinterCoyer2017

  • The challenge begins December 16th at 12am EST and ends March 9th at 11:59pm EST.
  • You must create a sign-up post anytime between now and January 20th on blog, goodreads, fb, google+, etc. Be sure to indicate if you’re doing regular COYER or The Switch. Link your sign-up to the linky below.
  • You can choose to do regular COYER – which is the same as The Strict – or COYER Switch.
  • Link your reviews to the linky that will be provided on the Kick-off Post.
  • There will be three grand prize winners – $10 gift card – one for the linky review list, and two for Switch participants.
I will be doing the switch which has 3 components: The Strict, The List, and The One with the Twist. I get to pick which time-frame below to do each one.
  • December 16 – January 12
  • January 13 – February 9
  • February 10 – March 9
What is  The Strict, The List, and The One with the Twist?

The Strict:
This is good old strict COYER. The rules:
  1. Every book you read must be an eBook or audiobook.
  2. Every book must be either free or less than $5.
  3. No library books, borrowed books, or Kindle Unlimited.
 The List:
For The List, you guessed it… you’re making a list!
  1. Make a list of up to 30 books you want to read.
  2. Every book on the list must be in your possession BEFORE you put them on the list.
  3. You can add 5 new books for every 5 books you read.
  4. Books on the list can be any format, any price, obtained any LEGAL way… so that means library books, KU, borrowed, etc.
**I'll be making one on goodreads closer to the time I start**

The One with the Twist is probably my favorite…
    1. You can read ANY book. ANY price. Obtained any LEGAL way.
    2. The Twist is, you have to stick with one format. If you choose audiobooks, then only the audiobooks you read during this phase will count. If you choose eBooks, then only eBooks you read during this phase will count. ETC….

I participated in Coyer for the first time this past summer and had a lot of fun I am eager to do this.  And it is a great way to get through the holidays and kick off the new year!

  • December 16 – January 12 The twist (all physical books only will count)
  • January 13 – February 9 The List (will create on goodreads in early January so stay tuned)
  • February 10 – March 9 The Strict

Hour 0

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Northern Cali (just outside the fire-zones going on)

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
     A Dog's Purpose (A Dog's Purpose, #1)  The Dead House

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I have raspberries & brownies to enjoy!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I am an indecisive mood reader (and snacker for that matter) so I have more books and food ready that what I can possibly enjoy but give me lots of options which is ideal for me.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?     I have been participating for a few years now, this is the first one which I might do semi-spooky themed.  I have a decent chunk of horror, suspense or otherwise spooky novels as options this time that, pending me mood, I hope to work on.
